John Compton, Co-Opted Member to the SCOR Executive Committee (2008-)

John S. Compton is an associate professor in the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Cape Town. He received his doctorate in Earth Sciences from Harvard University in 1986, taught marine geology at the University of South Florida from 1986 to 1996 and has been at the University of Cape Town since 1996. He has published over 45 papers in scientific journals on various aspects of marine geology.
