Eugene Morozov, Ex-Officio Member (IAPSO)

Eugene Morozov earned a Doctor of Sciences in Physics and Mathematics in 1990 and has been the Head of Laboratory of hydrological processes at the Shirshov Institute of Oceanology since 1993. Morozov's research focuses on internal waves and ocean circulation. He is a field oceanographer, and his work includes field measurements, data collection, processing, and analysis. Morozov's recent scientific activity has been related to the flows in the abyssal channels of the Atlantic Ocean: Vema Channel, Romanche and Chain fracture Zones, Kane Gap, Vema Fracture Zone, and others. Morozov is the author of 173 publications, including four books. Since 1969, he has made 38 cruises, including 25 cruises in the Atlantic Ocean, 4 cruises in the Indian Ocean, 4 cruises in the Pacific Ocean, 4 cruises in the Southern Ocean, and one cruise in the Arctic Ocean. In many of these cruises, Morozov was the leading scientist.

In 1999, Morozov was first elected a member of the IAPSO Executive and he was elected for his second term in 2003. In 2007, he was elected a vice-president of IAPSO and in 2011 he was elected the President of IAPSO. Morozov is also the Chairman of the Oceanographic Section at the Russian National Geophysical Committee, which is a Russian link to the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG).

Morozov was a Full Member of IAPSO/SCOR Working Group 121 on Ocean Mixing.
