Chair: J.D. Burton (UK)

Associate Members: Lutz Brugmann (GDR) and C.D. Vara (Argentina)
Terms of Reference
- To assess those processes that alter the river-borne materials in the estuarine zone, such as inorganic precipitation and biological transformations.
- To identify gaps in knowledge about fundamental processes in river-ocean systems such as the proper determination of river fluxes to the oceans, and the need to analyze particularly important rivers for such information.
- To propose a strategy for annual collection of data on dissolved and particulate river fluxes and to promote international co-operation in these pursuits.
